And a take-over has happened...

When it comes to Lions and their disputes over territories many a Lion will eventually have the choice to either fight against the take over or accept it as soon as possible.

Two brothers, the Sizinanis (Nkuhuma males) has been reminded that the whole of the Manyeleti Game Reserve is the territory of a coalition of 6 male Lions, the Matimbas. The Matimbas swiftly took most of the Koppies females after a very recent take-over and are currently mating with them.

Here an injured Koppies female can be seen with a large gaping wound

The Sizinanis has mostly succeeded in avoided full fighting contact with the Matimbas and what's even more amazing is that the one Sizinani brother lost the use of his back left leg about 3 years ago. He hops at a slow pace and should surely be an easy target for the fully matured and experienced Matimba coalition.

In this video you can see the healthy Sizinani brother roaring to the Matimbas sitting about five kilometres away.

A proud Lion!

See blog post "Safari is just awesome!" for this Lion walking on three legs sometimes referred to as "Gimpy"

To his credit he has managed three years in full-on predator country and has managed to survive many tense situations. Don't judge a book by its cover, right?
